28th December 2017 : RDSP updated (again)!

RDSP 0.31 has been made available.

This release implements sound channel queuing.

Please see the example 'queue' for an illustration of sound queuing.

The release notes have been updated to include the 'queue' flag.

Unlike the BBC Micro, sound queuing only occurs if the flag is set.

Up to 364 sounds may be queued per channel and these may consist of 44khz WAV

samples or synthesised sounds.

7th December 2017 : RDSP updated!

After a successful preview at WROCC on Wednesday 6th December 2017, RDSP 0.26 has been made available.

This release implements stereo channel placement which is accesible via the SOUND command.

8th November 2017 : Protector released

After a successful early release at the London 2017 show - Protector v1.17 has now been released to the PlingStore

If you bought the game at the London show, please use your Pling Store Reference Code to download your free update.

This update includes, 2 new alien types, various bug fixes and game play improvements.

8th July 2017 : New games are in development

Two new titles are now in development with release planned to coincide with the RISC OS London show.

Updates on our progress will be provided in due course.

7th July 2017 : The AMCOG Development Kit, Cyborg and Xeroid updated

The AMCOG Development Kit has been updated to version 1.03 and now includes a playable case study that illustrates the use of the tile library called 'Sparky'. In addition, Cyborg has been updated to its second edition and now includes improved graphics, sound effects as well as additional levels. Finally Xeroid has been updated and now reports the last level code provided in the game as a prompt to the player during the code entry screen.

Updates for existing users are free.

30th April 2017 : The AMCOG Development Kit, Cyborg and Mutant Penguin released

Two games and a developent kit were released at the Wakefield show including: These were released on two CDs that comprised the development kit itself and also Cyborg which was available to buy seperately

These titles have now been uploaded to the PlingStore and include:

  • Performance Improvements for both games and BASIC library improvements
  • An additional level map for Cyborg
  • Improvements to both games
  • A crunched version of Mutant Penguin available to download for free.

Full source code for Mutant Penguin is available within the AMCOG Development Kit.

19th March 2017 : New Games in Development

Subject to a successful development & beta cycle, new games are planned for the Wakefield show. Including:

  • A Zombie game
  • A game development kit that includes 2 games

14th March 2017 : Mop Tops Wins Best Game 2017

7th March 2017 : RDSP Beta released

Click to Download This is beta 2 of the new Shared Sound module from AMCOG Games. This sound module enables improved audio to be added to your RISC OS applications including:
  • Easy sample playback
  • Easy sound synthesis

The RDSP included in Mop Tops is the same module binary. However, I have improved the examples including a new effects demo..

Beta 2 adds:

  • Support for modulating samples via the ENVELOPE command
  • Support for sample looping.
  • An ASM veneer for the shared sound call.
  • More examples including an "all" obey file.
  • Crude bell override so that samples may be played for the system bell.
  • A master volume control.
  • Increased channels to 16.
  • Various bug fixes and code prettifying. Notably to ADSR so that decay now works and that the ADSR works more correctly with different volume levels.
  • SWIs based on allocated SWI range. Although these have not yet been tested.

27th February 2017 : Mop Tops Updated

AMCOG Games are please to announce an update to Mop Tops - an arcade puzzle game inspired by Lemmings and interactive building games.

This is a new RISC OS game originally released at the RISC OS London show 2016 that now features:

  • 30 levels.
  • Parallax scrolling in 16 million colours.
  • A total of 6 original music tracks.
  • Sound effects produced by the RDSP virtual sound chip that employ both samples and synthesised sounds.

The update Includes:

  • Sound effects produced via the RDSP virtual sound chip.
  • Improvements to character and effects animation.
  • Improvements to drag and drop.
  • Additional levels
  • Additional original music tracks.
  • A hint for the last level access code provided.

Mop Tops costs 9.99 uk pounds. It is compatible with RISC OS 4 and 5 machines including Raspberry Pi, Beagleboard, Pandaboard, ARMX6, RPCEmu and Virtual Acorn.

22nd January 2017 : Mop Top and Xeroid Updates

New levels, sound effects and animations are in development for Mop Tops.

Further, mouse support will be added to Xeroid as well as increasing the colour depth to 16M colours

A beta testing request will be sent out soon via the ROOL Forums These are planned to be made available for the RISC OS South West show

21st January 2017 : Sounds Good and its Free

Following on from the presentation given at the ROUGOL club in London last year on 21st November AMCOG games have released an alpha version of new sound module, via the ROOL forums This sound module provides an easy to use software synthesiser with:
  • 4 waveforms
  • Wave modulation : PWM, pitch etc
  • 8 sound channels
  • 8 resonant low pass filters (1 per channel)
  • Support for ENVELOPE and SOUND commands
  • A digital delay effect
  • Sample Playback via WAV files
A full release version will soon be available.

As a POC - it has been fitted to a free BASIC game by 'Patrick M' Spaceship-snd

This game should be compatible with the at least the Raspberry Pi and ARM X6
